water

his music trickled down my spine,

like water, it registered my thirst
for something new, for something

i forgot i could feel — in a circular
exhale of his smile, i smiled too, and
resting my feet, i waited for more.

Cold Water

bubbling

against summer’s heat

cold water

sweating

sucked up by the sun

first gulp of water

ash-laden tongue

seeking coolness of water

a fountain mirage

noon mirage

vision of nectar

spilled on road

the old pond

a frog jumps in –

the sound of water

reflecting the cloudy sky

* For Carpe Diem’s Tan Renga Challenge. The popular haiku is written by Basho, one of the most famous haiku poets. And complimenting it are my own two lines, thereby completing the renga.

my body all alone

in this autumn I feel –

the dusk in rain

stream of silent tears
