Right2Write Prompt 3: Yarn

Okay, time for the next Right2Write prompt. But before that, let me tell you that there was only a single submission last week. Come on writers, pick up your pens and if you have certain suggestions for the prompts, please recommend your ideas to me. I will definitely heed them to bring about good prompts for you all. And you can still write for the past prompts.

So, it was Melanie who interpreted the movie The Princess Bride in her words in quite an interesting way. You can read her post here.

For this week’s prompt, I am thinking of posting a photograph, for you all to get inspired and write, even if it is just two words. I’d certainly be glad if you participate.

So, here is the photograph-

Yarn (copyright- me)

Yarn

I hold the copyright to this photograph. So, kindly insert the photograph in your post, linking it back to me. Thank you.

I have titled the photograph Yarn but it isn’t necessary for you to use the very word or anything related to it in your creation. Be creative and look through the photograph and find something to write about.

I guess, the photograph, this time, is quite interesting. A nice poem could be written based on it. Oh well I am just musing.

So, the rules:-

1. Write a short-story or a poem based on the photograph.

2. Add your link to the linking widget down below.

3. Try and visit the submissions by other writers.

4. Spread the word around. Promote it. Re-blog or just tell your followers about it. Since, this is still a new prompt, it would take time to gather up more participants and that would definitely make it a more interesting writing arena, don’t you think?

That is all. I’ll be visiting your posts. Look for me next Saturday for another prompt.

Looking for an emerald…

Travelling between

the thin line of

reality and fantasy,

looking for an emerald

that resides in me,

.

I stumble through distant paths

get burnt by dragon’s tongues,

 I climb the mountains

to see no sun

but be struck by lightning

in search of something

that is nowhere

but inside me,

 .

I dwell in darkness

feast on my own dead skin,

split open my eyes,

looking for that island

where I think the stone is;

 .

fantasy becomes reality

when I last return home,

and find some drops

falling down my open eyes,

they glint with a distinct sheen,

and I realize,

they are the dear stones,

I was looking for,

in the realm of fantasy,

 .

all the time,

them being overlooked

by my heart,

but present

in my own reality.

leaving for her journey

Hello bloggers,

I got a wonderful opportunity to work with the lovely Merbear and you know what, we ended up creating this poem together. Please read and share your views.

leaving for her journey

She was binding her hair in a bun

Readying herself for the journey ahead

Which may take her to distances unknown

Bring in her the sense of being alive

She had never felt ever before

She was leaving behind all her fears

For the adventure that awaited her

 .

Her stomach coiled like a snake

Past torments licking at her heels

Dare she run so fast and proud?

Her life not worthy of a fairy tale

She sighs so loudly she startles herself

Trapped emotions needing to meet air

Praying to breathe air

 .

The stream of tears fell down her cheeks

Which she didn’t even care to wipe away

She was looking for a happy ending

Which she had to find herself in her own way

She picked up her hand bag of happy memories

And moved ahead towards her cage door

And pushed it open, it wasn’t locked

 .

Desperate echoes of her soul

Beckoning to her aching heart

Calling her to where she needs to be

She trembles with trepidation

Limbs weakened by the struggle

Her life never drawn before

By her own personal design

 .

She was never meant to be free

Doubts crossing her mind

When she had just seen the sunshine

But she would never return back

And thence, she flies away

Its true leaving is difficult but

Once you have left, it is easy not to turn back

 .

Then the breeze whispered her name

A lullaby warm and soothing

Like balm for her battered soul

Bringing her back to herself

Oh, she thought she had been lost!

Smiling inside herself with pure joy

For her true path was known all along

Be A Good Listener!

I am a good listener and that is one of the qualities very difficult to find. Whenever some person is sharing a piece of his/her life with me, telling me about their feelings- their thought process, how they are- I very patiently listen to them, rather than butting my way in between. But I have tried to talk to some people and these people- I just don’t know how to write this, but they are so foolish that they don’t know when someone is going through a hard time and is finally opening himself in front of you, you must become dumb for at least that moment, letting the person complete; instead of convincing them that your problems are the same or sometimes even more severe than the other person. Come on buddy, that is common sense!

It is important for you to be a good listener– Here I am trying to figure out the necessity behind this particular notion. And what I have found out is enlisted as follows-

1. Trust– If you are a good listener, people would not mind confiding in front of you, thereby giving rise to a trust factor. And we all know that trust is something which is very hard to achieve and it is for your own good if you achieve someone’s trust.

2. You hear more– Wow, that is so simple. If you are a good listener, you will hear more. That is so true, isn’t it? Sometimes people who just want to blabber out rather than being a good listener may miss something important being said to them and they would then have to deal with the outcomes.

3. Patience– Being a good listener inculcates the virtue of patience in you. If you tend to be patient enough that you listen completely to what the other person is saying to you, it would be for your own good because that would ultimately make you patient in every work you do.

4. You become likeable– You become likeable when you let others speak their hearts out. People would definitely like you now and would definitely consider you an “understanding” personality. And how good is that!?

Changing things in life!

Why do we want to change ourselves so very often? We sometimes want to change our lifestyle, and sometimes our entire life, a particular trait in us and sometimes even our whole persona. Why is it so- we are never satisfied with ourselves? Don’t tell me the thought of being yourself doesn’t suit you. But why then are we in the habit of these so-many changes we want?

The human nature is something beyond my imagination to understand and deal with. But one thing I can say is that this nature problem of aspiring to change is present in us all. Someone wants to get change their house into a bigger one, someone wants to change his/her life with that of a superstar, someone a little chubby wants to change herself/himself into the figure of a supermodel/athlete. Why so? Why can’t we be just satisfied with who we are? And moreover, we are just aspiring to change inflicting guilt and failure in ourselves when we aren’t able to do so because sometimes some things are impossible to change. And if you really want yourself to be the one you would want to be, don’t aspire to change, just change and do nothing else. Don’t try, don’t seek, don’t think but change if you are so desperate and can’t remain at all happy with the being i.e. you.

This seems odd coming from a person who wants to change so many things in his life. Take it as my experience with the help of which I am writing this stuff. These resolutions for making yourself changed won’t lead you anywhere but in a dark  well with no light but self-inflicted harm, the harm which you are causing to yourself and the harm which you can’t avoid because of you only.

Sometimes it bugs me seeing so many guys/girls becoming artificial with those mounds of make-up or those weird wild hairstyles or with fake masks worn by them, what would it bring? You’re not changed, you won’t change because these people have so evidently made perceptions of bringing about and achieving that change in their mind which can’t be erased by anyone. I would say if you want to change, just change in the way your life becomes a more favourable experience, don’t make resolutions, don’t aspire, don’t think but change if this change is very very important to you. This life is very short, don’t waste it by spending time in the dark well where I have spent so much of my precious time. Don’t do such mistakes, there is no easy way out. Change your perception towards change- because the aforesaid change would indeed make your life more brightened. Just change when you think change is going to bring something good and spiritual in your life but not something which you just want to change because of the worldly desires.

Don’t get confused. Just remember three things-

1. Try to accept yourself in the way you are.

2. If you really want changes, bring about a change which would make life a more favourable experience.

3. If the change is not such as being said in point 2, forget it. But if you still want to change, just change- don’t think, don’t aspire, don’t make resolutions, don’t go to that dark well but just change.
