Cold Rain: Basho Inspired Creations

A cold rain starting

And no hat —

So?

~

drenching me throughout

a cold rain spattering down

clothes cling to body

~

tilted umbrella

drops soaking the plastic face

thunder up above

* The first haiku is written by Basho. And the other two are my own inspired creations.

Inspired Haiku

Kikusha Ni’s Creation:-

my body all alone

in this autumn I feel –

the dusk in rain

~

My inspired creations:-

alone in the field

I feel the feel of rain drops

stream of silent tears

~

at the edge of ship

glancing at shades of water

lone feeling of peace

P.s.- The two haiku I have created are very close to my heart. They are written in response to Carpe Diem Special 44.

Samidare (Midsummer Rain) Haiku

tip-tip-toe-tip-tip

music of rain on pavement

lost in memories

~

out of oblivion

clouds shade the sky in its cloak

the first drops fell down

 ~

a midsummer rain

relieving yearning pupils

a solace from heat

~

elevated Sun

drizzling clouds in the sunshine

look for the rainbow

 ~

the midsummer’s day

longest in glory and rays

washed down by the rain

~

looking through window

a play of the rain droplets

meditating life

* Written in response of Carpe Diem # 219

Takenoko/Bamboo Shoots Haiku

going up and up

reaching for eternity

rigid, tall and straight

.

evergreen bamboo

shoots cut down and thinly sliced

boiled, to feast upon

.

survival circles

displayed around the body

every few inches

.

ward off the evil

takenoko surrounding

lonely Shinto shrine

.

wet and slippery

showered in the morning rain

a bamboo-poet writes

.

a childish cutter

gash shining stalk of bamboo

emerge moon goddess

.

shedding those gold tears

watching in pain, her moon world

born from bamboo stalk

* Written for Carpe Diem # 217 Takenoko/Bamboo Shoots

* The last two haiku are derived from a Japanese folktale; The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter. I came to know about it in a Japanese cartoon show once.

the indeterminate sky

he roared with laughter

and the thunder rumbled,

a shine glazed his eyes

and the lightening strikes again,

he wept in joy

and sweet droplets peter down,

he cried a lover’s melancholy

and the great tears descend,

he wailed a mother’s fear

and the drops solidified,

he hollered in pain of despondency

and the tempest turns up

begetting mayhem and annihilation,

he is powerful,

formidable he is,

the king of the heavens,

the seed of the mother earth,

the father of the titans,

the eldest of all,

the indeterminate sky.
