Gold Pride (Re-Introduction of A Poetry Form)

I’d like to take the opportunity to introduce a poetry form, I created earlier this year. I never named it but included a number of poems written in that style, in my poetry collection which you can download from here.

Rules:-

1. Three stanzas, two quatrains followed by a couplet.

2. Rhyming scheme- abcd/dcba/ee.

3. Theme- Some strong emotion or a powerful act.

4. Optional use of a color for narration.

I am sharing a poem written in this style from the said collection.

Gold Pride

the gold pride of the gods

seeping down the Eden,

penetrating in the soil

and under the ground

.

Hades cry out a shrill sound,

the gore of earth does boil,

the weapons form a redan,

and are activated, the death pods,

.

suffer the mortals, pain and blood,

amidst this amour pro-pre, crud

.

* It is quite a simple form to adopt. I would be delighted if you try writing this way.

happy

happy-

a tiny word,

two syllables, still vast,

says everything, saying nothing

at all.

* Poetic form:- Cinquain(2-4-6-8-2)

* For dVerse Open Link Night. It is a crude creation but I have no other words to splash around right now.

looking

he was looking at her in wonder,

the woman with those warm brown eyes

which sparkle with distinct shine

whenever she would laugh

or give a faint smile,

he was looking

into those eyes

shining

bright.

Poetic form:- Nonet, which is a 9-line poem with 9 syllables in the first line, 8 syllables in the second, 7 in the third and so on.

her life

she was the woman with dark kohl shaded eyes

with the vocals so resplendent and unique,

in her presence, the morning sun seemed to rise,

she was at her career’s, passion’s highest peak

when got tarnished by some bitter addiction

and her life became a popular fiction,

she is now gone, lost her war with her devils

but her true to soul baritone voice revels…

P.s.-

Poetic form- Rispetto

Rules-

1. 8 eleven-syllable lines, usually one stanza only.

2. Rhyme scheme- ababccdd.

3. Not much of a rule, but traditionally dedicated to a woman.

Blue Dreams

Blue dreams of tranquility,

sounds of fluttering wings,

views of setting suns,

the battered hope of reemergence

the need of resurgence,

ending this life of puns,

finding a way that brings,

the night of solace, motility

I dream blue dreams

and my insufferable pain gleams.

P.s.- Another piece in the poetic form, I created.. Other poems like this- Blue Thing, Red Lust, Violet Juice. Rules- (i) Three stanzas, rhyming scheme being- ABCD/DCBA/EE, (ii) Description of some strong emotion and (iii)Prominence of a color.
