About Me

An organic, home-grown poet, a wayward connoisseur of literature, a selfish spectator of art and other things, a fledgling media personnel currently on the lookout for a job and a retired emo extraordinaire, subsisting on the vagaries of life brought about by entrenched capitalism and idealist isolation.

This section has seen a lot of updates. Here’s a brief anecdote of how far this place has come.

I have been writing on this blog for about seven years now. It began as a new avenue for a schoolboy to share his thoughts and then turned into a full-fledged mental health blog, where I would share my journey through the intricate maze of my mind. And it was while taking a break from life and living, and writing constantly about my wretched days here that I started taking writing, in particular poetry, more seriously. Soon, I found a wonderful community of bloggers and poets and authors who provided me company through their words in times of despair. Gradually, the personal posts declined in favor of short-stories, haiku, form poetry and free-verse. Once I found my footing back in regular life, there was a lull in my post schedule. I would always come back though, and make a post once in a while, always keeping this blog alive even if the lull once lasted an entire year.

Today, this blog is symbolic of the development of my identity as a poet and its expression. It was through writing and sharing here that I became the person that I am today. There are more struggles ahead both in life as well as in my creative endeavors, but I have come this far. Let’s see how long it all lasts.

So, I would like to welcome you to HA’s place. Take a swig and let the taste linger in your mouth for a bit. Don’t forget to tell me how you like it, and what I can do to make your experience better.

There are many avenues to reach out to me. I always enjoy an invigorating conversation about the contemporary socio-political scenario, literature, poetry, music, and a myriad other stuff. In this digitized world of binaries, we can make it more real and break it down into a more diverse and inclusive setup.

Also, kindly let me know if you know of some magazines and online portals where I can submit my work. Thank you.

  1. Exactly right, our thoughts hold the key to our lives. Making time to be quiet and just think should be a priority in life. Silence is a powerful spiritual tool. Looking forward to exploring more of your blog. hugs, pat

  5. Hey, i think you are one of those special beings who learns what life is all about by experiencing it in ways none else has ever.
Nobody knows whats the right way of keeping thoughts going on inside the head. I do not. I learn from experiences. Some have been very very tough ones. .
Like your thumb print, whats happening in your life is unique to you.

  6. Depression is so hard. I cry every day but its more like a passing storm. In between the outbursts of sorrow and dismay I feel glad and grateful, strong and resilient, capable and confident. Feelings are a part of being human. Strengths have coresponding weaknesses. You wouldn’t want a stew without any salt but too much salt spoils the soup. I try not to take myself too seriously. I pray alot. I count my blessings.

    Thanks for visiting my blog.

I am amazed at how many individuals want to share their stories about their lives. It gives others a life line will we say. To know that others are just like us in some way. So many hide from others, what they dare not share. This is what I love about blogging. I get to shelter myself, yet at the same time reveal so much. Thanks for sharing with us.

    • Yes, it really helps a lot to be in communication, to read such blogs, which grab your attention because you can relate with them. This relation, though tainted by the fact that it is virtual, helps people like me and like you get through some typical situations.

  12. We are all anxious about something. Support may come in ways we never expect. It could be a smile or a like and comment on our blog. Maybe we read something inspirational or something that is just silly.

I have read blogs that I think I would not be interested in. But then I go back and take another look and can usually find something of interest.

Thanks for visiting my blog. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I mean to say that I have accepted its presence in my life.. How many times do we try to negate it and believe that something like this could not happen with us…?
I think acceptance leads to the path of recovery… only after we accept it that we start to fight.. and survive.

  14. I have been following your reviews for some time now and I like that you can be a rather harsh critique sometimes, but in a nice constructive way. I have a novel out. I am about to un-publish it because I have had it copyedited in preparation for a paperback version and contests. Even though it has all five stars (and they are not all from people I have met online), several indicated that there were flaws. The copyeditor picked up on this right away. I condensed the first three chapters into one and it resulted in gaps and a break of flow which I am currently correcting. It is only chapter one that has what I feel is a serious problem and that is your “Look Inside”. Problem is…unless a literary work is stellar, I can’t give it 5 stars. I also get suspicious as a reader if I see five stars (esp. on a less than stellar work.) At any rate, I was wondering if you would read and rate my book HONESTLY, and with the understanding that a revision of chapter one is forthcoming, (ie. Hopefully it won’t be so bad as to make you decide to not read the rest or to trash me severely…LOL) I will give you the promo code to get it on smashwords if you are able to do this for me. Send email to redclayandroses1@gmail.com if interested. It is a bittersweet southern faction, a story on the human condition in another era. I plan to republish it later after I take it down, and put it back up with the revisions in chapter one…or would you prefer to wait?

    • Hello,

Thank you for writing to me. I’d be glad if I could be of some help to you.

I am sometimes a harsh reviewer but if I get to like the characters, almost everything else is forgotten. In case, you are looking forward to rectifying the flaws, it shows your dedication as a writer to put across a book which brings about a good reading experience for your readers.
In simple words, I’d like to read your book.

      I’ll be sending you an e-mail. ๐Ÿ™‚

  21. I have experienced having someone try to define me by my depression, but that is all in the past. That feeling of melancholy still hovers in the outskirts, but no longer do I allow it to consume me. It has, however, been the inspiration of much of my poetry as I seek to understand the darkness that was. Thanks for your honest sharing and I look forward to reading more of your work. Peace, Linda
