the first drops felt like invisible threads
dangling down the sky in swift, translucent
colours, wetting the epidermis of the earth,
in the pattern of an old comforting habit,
worn-out and bare, as a cold wind against
the torn paths of my seldom-used lips.
you felt like a stolen figure of hope —
a sudden departure from white noise
in a vast welcoming gesture of your open
arms, your face flushed in a lightning
roar — your voice grew distant, and yet
your luminous eyes stayed in the dark.
i shared the softness of my limbs, loose
muscles, hollow bones, all the broken scars.

A taste of passion after trudging through a long dry spell with out it is almost unbearably electric. And kisses on those scars might be the most erotic thing of all. I love, love, love this.

It happens, “face flushed in a lightning
roar.” I had almost forgotten that flushed face, it is real though. I won’t forget again for a while.
I like your artwork find, or did you paint it?
p.s. Winter? Though we have rain lways here I was thinking snow falling when I started to read. Rain is much better.
Thank you for hosting today.

This feels like a sonnet… the fourteen line, the ending couplet… really love this anmol, the way you use the weather in the first sextet and the finding of comforting arms in the second. Love it.

I love the watercolor and then of course the words….
the ending couplet.

Woww! ❤️ This is absolutely gorgeous, Anmol! 😀 I love the way you speak of rain here. The way you describe it; “like invisible threads dangling down the sky in swift, translucent colours” is sheer poetic brilliance! And then to shift the tone near the end by giving us a glimpse of your vulnerability and soul makes this an unforgettable poem! Love it! ❤️

dangling down the sky….love this description of rain. So amazing and mysterious. I agree with Bjorn. This does read almost like a sonnet to weather.

I think this is how Australian farmers feel about rain when it comes after a long summer. What a great poem this is.
