an evening reverie

what I shall make out in green and concrete –
the milk of this evening has gone rancid
in its own boiling heat – white blossoms curled
into their wombs – colored winds in this play.
what I shall discern of you, in your want –
an iris dusk shedding silken-haired light,
hung at the mere hint of one last goodbye.

You did nail it at /an iris dusk shedding silken–haired light/. I’m becoming a crone I fear, for sunsets make me think of the dirt nap

  2. I like the searching question, “what shall I discern of you in your want?” An evening full of colors coming out from an iris, watching you watching. It is so hard to know the sky, more difficult still, to know a friend or lover departing. So lovely.

There is a tendency that goodbyes can made into something to be remembered
