long in the tooth

long in the tooth,

he sang a song of life,

narrated words of wisdom,

danced away with his woman,

stole a silent kiss behind the curtain,

and grinned an ever youthful toothless smile

I was just saying how “long in the tooth” makes me giggle, you used it perfectly here. The picture accompanied with your words gave Hee-Haw a run for the money and I truly enjoyed the do-si-do of this.

    have a great weekend

  3. What a cheerful poem! It was rather refreshing to read after so many dark pieces (however well they may have been written). I loved “danced away with his woman / stole a silent kiss behind the curtain.”
