Saved by the Twins: A Very Short Story

“The relationship between the twins is not going to change in a night’s time.”

“But it has to. We have to band them because in order to save the planet, we need them both working together,” the old scientist revealed.

“Why do you need both of them? They are now old women. They can barely walk and you want them to save the planet.”

“Nina and Gina, both have a powerful object with them. That is why they are the only one who could save a million inhabitants from certain demise. According to my team, the asteroid will enter the planet’s atmosphere tomorrow morning.”

“I don’t see how I could help. I was their friend long back, before the rift that tore them apart.”

“We have to bring them together. It is urgent. Can you tell me what happened with them?”

“I know of it just faintly. They were 20 then, when they fell in love with Sam. They both wanted him. But… and they drifted apart after Sam chose some one else altogether. The small battle had turned into a cold war.”

“I beg you… It is not for me, but for all of us.”

She agreed and it was nearly impossible to bring them together. But she was successful in the end, after explaining the complicated problem to them both. They both had obliged to help because their own lives were at stake as well.

In the early morning, they came to the observatory where they both produced their rings, sneering at each other. They banded the rings which produced an ethereal gold light which drifted ahead and covered, shielding the entire planet. They waited.

A little after noon, the news came that the asteroid deflected back to the space . They were all saved.

After their cheers to both the sisters who had saved their lives, the head scientist asked the two of them, “Whom did Sam marry then?”

They looked at him startled. “Sam was a horse,” they both barked.
